Two monks are out walking…
I’m going to paraphrase (butcher) this story I once read.
Two Buddhist monks are walking along a muddy creek, doing their walking meditation. A teacher and a student.
They come across two young women in very pretty dresses. They are headed to a picnic and can’t figure out how to get across this muddy creek. The footbridge is out.
The student monk says, “Whoa. They’re gonna get muddy. That’s a shame.”
The teacher monk approaches the ladies. He says, “Ladies? Would you be offended if my friend and I carry you across the creek?”
One of the ladies says, “Oh my God TOTALLY! Why is the footbridge out? This sucks.”
The other lady says, “That would be very kind of you.”
Each monk lifts a lady up, and carries her across, setting them down on the dry path.
Twenty minutes later, as the monks are resuming their walking meditation, the student says, “That was weird. Back there. When we carries those chicks. Was that weird? Or is it just me?”
The teacher says, “Are you still carrying those ladies? We sent them down twenty minutes ago!”
Peace & Love,
